Nav Nirmiti Agro Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out of the Madanrao Ladanerachana Colony. It’s not like a big factory or a shop you might expect. It’s just us operating from where we live, trying to get a handle on the farming business in a more organized way. The colony is usually quiet during the day because everyone is out in the fields or at their jobs. We started this because the old ways of doing things alone weren't really working for us anymore. It’s a bit of a scramble sometimes, especially when we have to meet up after a long day of work. My desk is covered in receipts and old tea mugs. We talk about seeds, fertilizers, and who has a tractor available for the weekend. The name sounds a bit official, but really it’s just a group of friends and neighbors trying to figure out how to get better prices for what we grow. We spend a lot of time on the phone or just walking over to each other's houses. The weather is always the main topic of conversation, and lately, it's been more unpredictable than ever. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything like that. We just know the soil and we know each other. It’s about making things work for the small guys in the colony and the nearby fields. It is a slow process, but we are getting there together, one season at a time.
