If you walk through Mominpura, you’ll find us right at Golibar Chowk. This is where Goswami Dairy has been for a long time. It’s a busy intersection, so there’s always someone passing by. Our day starts much earlier than most people’s. We are up before the sun to get the milk and dairy products ready for the morning rush. The shop is small and simple. We have the big refrigerators and the counters where we serve our customers. It smells like fresh milk and sometimes the sweets we have out on the trays. We don’t do any big advertising. People just know we are here. Usually, there’s a line of folks getting their daily supplies before they head to work or school. We know which family likes which product. It’s a nice way to live, being part of the neighborhood like this. The floors are tiled and we wash them down constantly to keep everything clean for the food. It can get a bit hectic during festival times when everyone wants extra milk or curd for their celebrations. We just keep serving one person at a time. The noise from the Chowk is constant, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We aren't trying to become a giant chain. We just want to keep the milk fresh and the customers happy. It’s a lot of manual labor, lifting heavy cans and moving crates, but it’s good work.
