Manoj General Stores

Itwari is one of those places in Nagpur that stays crowded from morning till late at night. Manoj General Stores is right there on the Main Road, specifically in the Bhusi Mandi area. If you know Nagpur, you know how hectic the Mandi can be with all the carts and people moving goods around. My shop is tucked in among many others, filled with the usual general items like soap, toothpaste, and big bags of grains. The smell of the market is always there, a mix of everything being sold nearby. I spend a lot of time sitting behind the counter watching the chaos outside. The shop has been here for a while, and the wooden shelves have seen better days, but they hold up the weight of the goods just fine. I get a lot of workers from the Mandi coming in for a quick snack or some tobacco. The floor is old stone and stays relatively cool even when it’s forty degrees outside. I don't use a computer for my accounts, just a thick ledger and a pen. It works for me. Sometimes I run out of change and have to go to the next shop to ask for some. It’s a busy life here in Itwari. You don’t get much peace and quiet, but that’s what makes this part of town what it is. I keep the door open until late because the market never really sleeps. It’s just how things are for a shop in a place like this.
