Mahalaxmi General & Daily Needs

Our shop is Shop Number 4 on Bhandara Road, sitting right in the Lakad Ganj area of Nagpur. Being near Lakadganj Garden means we get a lot of people stopping by after their morning walks or in the evening when they take their kids to the park. We call it a daily needs shop because that’s exactly what we have—milk, bread, eggs, and the usual things that run out quickly at home. The fridge is always humming in the corner, keeping the dairy and cold drinks chilled. It is not a very large shop, so we have stuff hanging from hooks on the walls and stacked up in the corners. The floor is just plain cement, and we try to sweep it a few times a day because of the dust from Bhandara Road. We open up quite early, usually before the sun is fully up, to receive the milk crates. It’s a quiet time before the rest of the city wakes up. We’ve got a small television perched on a high shelf that stays on the news most of the day. People often linger for a minute to see the weather or just to chat about what’s happening in the neighborhood. We aren't doing anything special, just providing a place for the locals to get their basic groceries without having to go too far. The neighborhood is friendly, and we've been part of it for a long time now.
