Goyal Traders

You can find us at Maskasath Itwari, right near the Corporation Building. Itwari is one of the busiest markets you’ll ever see, and we are right in the thick of it. Goyal Traders has been in this spot for quite a long time. My father started it, and now I’m the one looking after things. The building is old and the stairs are a bit narrow, but it’s home for us. We deal with wholesale goods mostly. Every morning, the carts arrive and we have to clear the entrance just to get inside. It’s a lot of lifting and moving boxes around. The air is always full of the smell of spices and the sound of people bargaining. We don’t have air conditioning, just the big old ceiling fans that clatter a bit. I sit at the front desk and greet the regulars. We know most of our customers by name. We don't really do any marketing; the location does that for us. If someone needs something in bulk, they know to come to Maskasath. Sometimes it gets overwhelming with all the people, but that’s just how Itwari is. I usually have my lunch from the tiffin service while sitting at the counter. It’s a busy life, and I don't get much time off, but I like being part of this market.
