Sai Home Bricks

At 34, Thirukkalacheri in Tharangampadi, you will find our little operation which we call Sai Home Bricks. We have been here for a good while now, just doing the work that needs to be done. It is a quiet area mostly, which is nice for us. Making bricks is a slow and steady process, especially when you are waiting for them to dry out properly in the sun. We always have to keep one eye on the clouds because a sudden rain shower can be a real headache for our production. Our yard isn't much to look at, just rows and rows of bricks sitting in the dirt. We do not have any fancy automated equipment, just the basic tools and our hands. People from around Tharangampadi know they can come to us if they are building a house or a wall. We spend all our days outside, so we are all pretty tanned and usually a bit dirty by noon. It is hard on the back and the knees, but we have gotten used to it over the years. We do not have a big marketing plan or anyone handling our public relations. We just hope that if we do a decent enough job, people will keep coming back to us. The office is just a corner of the main building where we keep our coats and a big water jug. It is a simple life out here.
