A. V. C. College Of Engineering is situated in Mannampandal, just a short distance from Mayiladudurai. It’s a peaceful spot, mostly surrounded by coconut groves and fields. The post office is nearby, and the whole area has that slow, small-town feel to it. The college itself is a collection of several buildings that have been added over the years. You can see the difference between the older blocks and the newer ones by the style of the windows and the color of the paint. The grounds are quite large, and there are always some students practicing sports or just sitting around the edges of the fields. The labs are kept busy with practical classes, and you can often smell the oil from the mechanical workshops. In the main office, the fans are always spinning, and the staff is usually dealing with some sort of administrative task or talking to parents. It’s a place where things move at a steady pace. We don’t have the rush of a big city, which is nice for focusing on the work. The evenings are especially quiet once the students leave for their hostels or head back to town. It’s a simple, honest place where people from the local districts come to study. You get used to the sound of the birds and the distant temple bells while you’re working here.
