Hm Bricks Field

Hm Bricks Field is out in Village Kumargaon, which is part of Ward No 10. We are located near the Rupahi Police Station and the post office. It’s a large open field where we do all the work of making bricks. You can smell the smoke from the kiln when it’s running. It’s a very rural setting, and we like the space we have out here. The work is repetitive and depends a lot on the seasons. During the rainy season, we can’t do much, so we spend that time maintaining the site. When it’s dry, we are busy from dawn until dusk. We have people from the village helping us out, and it feels like a community effort most of the time. We don’t have a corporate office or any fancy brochures. People just know where we are in Kumargaon and they come by when they need a truckload of bricks. The ground is often covered in loose clay and straw, which is just part of the process. Being near the police station makes it easy for newcomers to find us. We’ve been part of the Rupahi area for years, and we just keep doing the same work our fathers did. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what keeps the houses in this ward standing. We just take it one day at a time.
