Ambuja Cements Ltd.

Our place for Ambuja Cements Ltd. is on T.D. Banerjee Road in Krishnagar, part of the Dakshini Cooperative. It’s a bit quieter out here in the Nadia district compared to the big cities, but we still stay plenty busy. The office is pretty basic, just a few tables and a couple of old cabinets for the files. We spend most of our time out in the yard or talking to the laborers who come to pick up the bags. The air always has that dry, chalky feel to it. We know the local people well, and a lot of our business is just neighbors helping neighbors get their homes built. We don't have any polished marketing stuff around here. We just have our boots and our registers. When the monsoon hits, things get a bit tricky with the mud on the road, but we manage. We’ve learned which routes the trucks can take when the water rises. It’s practical, hands-on work. We don't use big words or try to impress anyone. If the cement is there, we sell it. If it’s not, we tell you when the next truck is coming. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it works for us. Most days end with us dusty and tired, but it’s a good kind of tired. We’ve been part of this community for a while now, and we like the slow, steady way things get done around here in West Bengal.
