You can find us at No. 1 in the commercial complex over in the 1st Block of Saraswathipuram. Vishal Steel Enterprises is a name we’ve worked hard to keep going. We deal in all sorts of steel products, mostly for construction and small-scale engineering projects. The complex is always buzzing with activity, so there’s never a dull moment around the shop. Our space is filled with stacks of metal that reach almost to the ceiling. It can be a bit of a maze sometimes. I spend most of my day behind a small wooden desk, handling the bills and talking to people who walk in. We don’t have a big marketing department or a fancy website. Most of our work comes from people in the neighborhood who are building something new or fixing up an old shed. We take measurements, talk about the different grades of steel, and try to find a price that works for everyone. The floors are always covered in a bit of grit from the metal, and the sound of the cutting machine is something we’ve grown to ignore. We have a tea stall just a few doors down, and that’s where we do most of our thinking. It is an honest living. We aren't trying to be the biggest steel yard in the country, just the one that people in Saraswathipuram can rely on when they need a few beams or some reinforcement bars for a project.
