Karnataka Ginger Traders

If you walk down Azad Road and turn into the 2nd Cross, you will find our place. It is easy to find because you can usually smell the ginger long before you see the sign for Karnataka Ginger Traders. We have been here for a good while, and the building is starting to show its age a bit. The walls have some cracks and the paint is peeling, but it works for what we need. Every morning, trucks come in with loads of fresh ginger that we have to sort through and get ready for the market. It is messy work and the floor is almost always damp from the washing and cleaning process. We have a few big scales that we use to weigh everything out, and they make a loud clanking sound all day. The neighbors on Azad Road are mostly other traders, so there is a lot of shouting back and forth about prices and transport. It gets very humid in the warehouse, especially when we have a lot of stock piled up in the corners. I spend most of my time checking the quality and making sure the bags are tied up tight. We don’t have fancy computers or a big lobby for visitors. It is just a workspace where we move heavy bags and try to stay on top of the daily orders. The day ends when the last truck leaves and we finally get to wash the dirt off the floor.
