Our place is located at Plot No 305 in the Hebbal Industrial Area, specifically in the Metagali section of Mysore. It’s a big name on the sign, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries-Vst Diesel Engines Pvt Ltd, but when you step inside, it is just a group of us working on engines and parts. The industrial area is always noisy with trucks and machines, which is pretty normal for this part of town. We’ve got a fair amount of space here at Plot 305, which is necessary when you are dealing with heavy diesel equipment. The floors are concrete and usually have a bit of oil or grease somewhere, no matter how much we sweep. It is an honest environment. We spend the day looking at technical drawings or working directly with the hardware. Mysore has a different pace than the bigger cities, but out here in Hebbal, things move pretty fast. We don’t spend much time on fancy decorations or office perks. Most of the budget goes into the tools and the inventory. The staff here knows their way around a diesel engine better than anything else. We take lunch breaks together when we can, usually talking about the work or whatever else is going on. It is a long day sometimes, but being part of the Metagali industrial community feels right. We just do our jobs and head home. There is always more work to do tomorrow.
