Down here in the village of Raypur Mahadev, things move a lot slower than they do in the big cities. We decided to set up this small place to give the local kids a chance to learn about computers without having to travel all the way to the main town every day. The building is quite simple and nothing to brag about. We have got a handful of machines that we try our best to keep running smoothly. Sometimes the power goes out without warning, and we all just have to sit around and wait for it to come back on. That is just part of daily life here in Saraiya. We teach a bit of software and show them how to handle the hardware when it inevitably breaks down. It is not always easy because spare parts are hard to get delivered out to this village. I spend a lot of time showing people how to use a mouse for the first time or how to type properly on the keyboard. Some students are really fast learners, while others take a bit more time to get the hang of it. We do not mind either way. We are not a big fancy academy with glass walls or air conditioning. It is just a room with some old desks and monitors. The floor gets swept once a day, and we try to keep the dust away from the sensitive parts.
