About Kohinur Hardware – Construction Equipment & Machinery in Murshidabad
I usually get here around eight in the morning to roll up the heavy iron shutters. The dust in Beldanda gets on everything, so the first thing to do is wipe down the counter with an old rag. Kohinur Hardware isn't a fancy place by any means. We have rows of wooden shelves that go all the way up to the ceiling, mostly filled with boxes of nails, hinges, and heavy tools that have been sitting there for a while. Sometimes people come in just to ask for a specific size of washer or a single piece of pipe, and I have to go into the dark back room with a flashlight to find it. It's quiet most of the time except when the big trucks go past outside on the main road. The building itself is just an ordinary brick place, nothing that would make you stop and look twice unless you actually needed something fixed at your house. I’ve spent a lot of years here, and the concrete floor is worn down in the spots where I stand the most behind the register. We keep a thick paper ledger on the desk to track what goes out, but mostly it's just the same faces from around the district coming in for their farming or building supplies. The air always smells like iron and old cardboard boxes. When it rains, you can hear it hitting the tin roof really loud. It’s just a regular shop doing its thing every day.
