If you look behind the Regal Cinema in Colaba, you will find Battery Street. Our place, Z. N. Exporters, is located in Suleman Chambers at number 4. Colaba is always moving, so there is never a quiet moment around here. Being in an old building like Suleman Chambers has its own feel. The walls are thick and the hallways have that specific old Mumbai smell. We have been operating from this spot for some time. Most of our day is spent dealing with the logistics of exporting goods. It involves a lot of back and forth with different people. Sometimes the internet is slow or the power flickers, but we just keep going. It is not a shiny glass office like the ones you see in movies. It is a functional space where we track shipments and talk to suppliers. The street outside is usually full of tourists and locals walking toward the cinema or the shops. We don't mind the noise much anymore. It’s actually kind of nice to be in the middle of all that energy. Inside the office, things are usually piled up with documents and ledgers. We use simple desks and chairs that have seen better days. It’s a straightforward business and we don't try to make it look like something it isn't. Just a group of us working in a corner of Colaba. We know the tea seller downstairs and the postman by name. That is how we run Z. N. Exporters.
