Our office is way up on the 23rd floor of Lodha Excelus. It’s a big building in New Cuffe Parade, right off the Eastern Freeway in Wadala. Living and working in Mumbai means you spend a lot of time looking at traffic, and from this high up, the cars look like tiny toys on the freeway. It’s a bit different from a street-level shop. We have to take the elevators every time we want a snack or to head out, which takes a few minutes. The office is pretty standard, with desks and computers and a lot of people talking on phones. Being in Wadala, it’s quite central, but the wind really whips around the building since we are so high up. We deal with a lot of coordination and planning here. It’s a busy atmosphere with people always rushing to meetings or staring at spreadsheets. Even though it’s a big corporate-looking building, inside we are just people trying to get through the workday. We have a little break area where we drink coffee and complain about the commute. The view of the city is probably the best part, especially when the weather is clear. It’s a long way from the ground, but this is where we do all our daily tasks. We don’t really do anything fancy, just the regular business stuff that keeps everything moving.
