V. N. Engineering, Mumbai

V. N. Engineering is tucked into unit B-24 of the Girikunj Industrial Estate. We are off Mahakali Caves Road, right near the old Paper Box building in Chakala, Andheri. If you know Mumbai, you know how tight these industrial estates can be. Space is a bit limited, but we make it work. We’ve been doing engineering work here for a long time. It’s a busy neighborhood with a lot of small workshops just like ours. You can always hear the sound of metal being worked or delivery trucks trying to navigate the narrow lanes. Our shop is full of tools and machinery, and there’s usually a bit of dust in the air. We don't have a fancy showroom. If you want to see what we do, you just walk into the workshop. We work with a lot of local companies that need parts or repairs done quickly. We don't use a lot of big words or try to sound like a multinational corporation. We’re just a small group of guys who are good with our hands. Sometimes the monsoon makes things difficult with the leaks and the humidity, but we just keep the machines running. People come to us because they know we’re reliable and we’ve been in the same spot for years. It’s not a glamorous life, but we take pride in the stuff we make and the problems we solve for our customers. We just keep our heads down and get the job done.
