We are based in Mumbai at 2, Mahavir Darshan, which is part of the Himalaya Society in Asalpha Village. If you know Mumbai, you know Asalpha is a busy, crowded place with a lot of life. Our office is right there in the middle of it. The pin code is 400084. It’s a small space, but we manage to fit all our desks and equipment inside. Engineering is a lot of detailed work, so we try to keep the distractions down, even though the street noise can get pretty loud sometimes. There’s always someone selling something outside or cars honking, but that’s just Mumbai for you. We mostly deal with technical drawings and project planning. Most of us take the local train or the metro to get here, so we’re usually a bit tired by the time we walk into Mahavir Darshan. But once we have our first cup of chai, we’re ready to go. The office has that old-school feel where everyone knows what the other person is working on. It’s not fancy, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it’s our home base. We stay pretty busy with the workload, but we always find time to complain about the monsoon or the heat. It’s just a regular office full of people trying to do a good job.
