Behind the Dadar Police Station in Ganga Nagar, you will find Nana Niwas and the Desai Hospital. That is where Dr. Tushar Saundankar is based. Dadar West is a hectic place, but once you get into the hospital, it feels a bit different. It’s an old building with a lot of history and the neighborhood trust is there. A lot of patients come through every day, some for regular checkups and others for more serious things. The waiting room isn’t very large, so it gets crowded quickly. We try to keep things organized, but in a hospital, things can change in a second. There is always that smell of antiseptic in the air. Time is spent filing charts and making sure the rooms are ready for the next person. It’s not a shiny new private clinic with glass walls. It feels like a real community place. The staff has been around for a long time, and we know many of the families. Sometimes the noise from the police station or the street can be heard, but we are used to it. Long shifts are common and sometimes we stay late if a patient needs extra care. It is hard work, but it’s what we do here in Dadar. We just keep things moving and try to help whoever walks in. Working at Desai Hospital means you see a lot of life happening all at once. It's a busy corner of Dadar, and we do our best.
