The Bombay Textile Research Association

We are located right on Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg in Ghatkopar West. Everyone around here just calls it LBS Marg, and if you’ve ever been on it, you know the traffic is something else. The Bombay Textile Research Association has been a fixture in this area for a really long time. The building has that old Mumbai feel to it, with high ceilings and walls that have seen many years of work. Inside, we have labs where we look at different fabrics and fibers all day. It’s a lot of testing, measuring, and writing down results. The air sometimes smells like chemicals or damp cotton, depending on what we are working on that day. We have a lot of staff who have been here since they were young, so there is a lot of shared history in these hallways. It’s not a fast-paced corporate office; it’s more of a place where things are done carefully and slowly. We have piles of textile samples everywhere, and the sound of the looms or testing machines is always going in the background. It’s a bit of a maze inside if you aren't used to it. We just keep doing our research and helping out the textile industry in our own quiet way. It’s a bit dusty and old-fashioned, but it’s an important place for many of us who have spent our careers in these rooms.
