Altaha Exports is located at 51 Ramarbari, which is very close to the Mahim Station. Being near the station is a blessing and a curse because it’s easy for us to get around, but the noise of the trains is constant throughout the day. You get used to the rumbling after a while, though. Our office is a small room on the ground floor. We deal with exports, mostly sending local goods to different places. It’s a straightforward job, though the regulations seem to change every other week. We spend a lot of time at the local government offices or down at the shipping yards checking on things. When we are actually in the office at 51 Ramarbari, we’re usually catching up on emails or drinking tea with whoever drops by to say hello. We don't have a receptionist, so if the door is open, you can just walk right in. The walls are a bit peeling and we could probably use a new coat of paint, but we’re too busy with the orders to worry about that right now. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in the city. We just want to do our work and go home to our families at the end of the day. It's a practical business run by people who know the neighborhood well. The traffic near Mahim Station is always a nightmare, so we try to do our errands on foot whenever we can. It's just a regular local business.
