Being in Masjid Bunder means it is always loud and crowded outside our door. Siddhivinayak Cargo Services operates out of Rajgor Chamber, right on the ground floor. It’s room number 2, so you don't have to look very far once you enter the building. We are near the Bank of India, which is a good landmark for people who get lost in these narrow streets. Cargo work is mostly about moving stuff from one place to another. Our office is filled with ledgers and delivery notes. Sometimes there are boxes piled up near the entrance while we wait for a truck. It’s a bit dusty because of all the traffic on the road, but that’s just how it is here. We start early because the markets around us wake up before the sun is even fully out. We’ve been at Plot No. 9 for a good many years now. The tea stall around the corner is where we get our morning chai. It’s not a glamorous job, just a lot of coordination and making sure things get where they need to go. We know most of the other business owners on this floor. It’s a tight-knit community in a way. Even when it’s raining hard, we keep the doors open to let some air in. It’s a busy, messy, honest way to make a living. Most days are long but we just get through the pile of work.
