We are tucked away in Shop No. 3 of the Hingwali Building on Souter Street. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze, but we make it work. Being in a shop-style space means we are right on the street level, so we see everyone walking by. It keeps us connected to what’s happening outside. Sara Exports is a small operation. We don’t have a board of directors or a big office layout. It’s just a few of us in here surrounded by samples and shipping documents. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to get around to it. We are too busy keeping track of our exports and making sure everything reaches its destination on time. Souter Street has its own rhythm, and we’ve become a part of it over the years. We know the tea seller on the corner and the other business owners nearby. It’s a very practical environment. We don’t use a lot of big words or try to sound more important than we are. We just handle our business, solve the problems that pop up, and try to keep things moving. Some days are loud because of the street noise, but we’ve gotten used to it. It’s just the background music to our daily work life here. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s our life and we like it just fine.
