S. K. Exports

Our office is over in Byculla, specifically at Satnam Palace on Clare Road. It's an old building with a lot of character, though the stairs can be a bit much on hot days. We are at number 7. We’ve been operating from here for a while now. Byculla has this specific feel to it that you don’t find in other parts of Mumbai. It’s a mix of everything. Inside our space, it’s mostly just us handling the export side of things. There are usually files everywhere and the phone rings more than we’d like. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who have figured out how to get things from one place to another without too much trouble. Sometimes the rains make the roof leak a little, so we have to move the desks around, but it’s nothing we can't handle. We usually eat lunch together, mostly stuff brought from home. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a sleek office. It's practical. We deal with the vendors and the logistics people every day. It’s a lot of back-and-forth communication. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk, other days it’s a complete rush to meet a deadline. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It’s a good spot to be, right in the heart of the city where everything is accessible.
