S K Exports Fashions is located in the Shah and Nahar Industrial Estate in Lower Parel. We are on the third floor of the A2 building, in Galas 370 and 371. Lower Parel has changed so much with all the malls and skyscrapers, but this estate still feels like the old Mumbai. The stairs are narrow and the hallways are always filled with boxes or people moving fabric around. Our space is a mix of an office and a small area where we check our fashion exports. There are rolls of cloth sometimes leaning against the walls and the sound of the sewing machines from neighboring units is always there. It’s a busy, cramped environment, but there is a lot of energy in it. We have been working out of this spot for years. Getting lunch around here is easy because of all the small stalls on Sitaram Jadhav Marg. The elevators in this building are old and sometimes they don't work, so we’ve all gotten used to climbing the three floors. We don't have a polished showroom. It’s just a workspace where we handle the orders and make sure the quality is what it should be before things go out. We are just a group of people who know the garment trade well and keep our heads down to get the job done every day. It's not always perfect, but we make sure the shipments leave on time.
