Prashant Tutions

We run Prashant Tutions, a small center over in Andheri West, on Sinhgad Road. It is at 14 B. We mostly help school kids with their daily homework and subjects like maths or science. It is not a big institution, just a couple of rooms where we put some tables and chairs for the students. We started it because we saw kids in the neighborhood struggling with their studies after their regular school. We do not have a big team, just myself and a couple of others who help out with the teaching. The kids come in the afternoon after their school ends. It gets a bit noisy when they all arrive at once, but they settle down eventually once they start working. We do not use any fancy technology, just notebooks, pens, and a chalkboard. We try to explain things in a way that is easy to understand. Sometimes we have to go over the same chapter three or four times, but that is just how it is with learning. Parents often stop by to ask how their children are doing with their grades. We have been in this building for a few years now. It is a bit cramped, but it feels like a small community. We are not trying to be the biggest center in Mumbai. We just want the kids from around Sinhgad Road to do okay in their exams. It is simple work, but we like it quite a lot.
