If you are looking for Popular Lodge, you have to go up to the 4th floor of Kothari Mansion. We are situated in the Wadala East area, right opposite the General Post Office. It’s an old building, so you can feel the history in the walls and the hallways. Being on the fourth floor means there are a lot of stairs to climb, which keeps us all active, though it might be a bit much if you have heavy bags. The rooms are basic and functional for people who just need a place to sleep while they are in Mumbai for work or travel. We get a lot of people coming in from the GPO or the nearby station area. It’s not a luxury hotel, just a simple lodge where we provide a bed and a roof. The windows look out over the busy streets of Fort and Wadala, and you can hear the city moving all night long. We keep the linens clean and try to make sure the water is running fine. Sometimes the lift in these old mansions can be a bit slow, so we tell people to be patient. It’s a practical choice for someone on a budget who wants to stay right in the heart of the city near the main post office. We are just doing our best to run a quiet place in a very loud part of town.
