Paresh Lakdawala Clinic

Paresh Lakdawala Clinic is on the fifth floor of the Kala Bhavan Building. If you know where the old Opera House Theatre is on Charni Road, we are right behind it. Being on the fifth floor means it is a bit quieter than the street level, which is nice given how busy this part of Mumbai gets. People usually take the lift up. We’ve been here for years, seeing patients from the neighborhood and some who travel from further away. It’s a straightforward medical setup. We have a waiting area that fills up pretty quickly in the evenings. The building is an older one, typical for this part of town, so it has that lived-in feel. I spend most of my time in the consultation room talking to people about their health issues. We don’t have a lot of staff, just a couple of people to help with the files and appointments. It is a bit of a maze getting here if it is your first time, but once you find the theater, you are basically there. We try to keep things organized, though some days the phone doesn't stop ringing and things get a bit chaotic. It is just a local clinic doing regular work. We don’t do any fancy marketing, we just open the doors and see whoever comes in needing help. The air conditioning works most of the time, which helps with the humidity. It is a practical place for practical people.
