Smit Export Pvt. Ltd. is located in units 2 and 12 of the Shanta Ashish Building. It’s a solid old building and we’ve made our home here. We handle exports, which basically means we spend our time talking to people in other countries and trying to figure out shipping schedules. It isn't always easy. Sometimes the time zones make for very long days. Our office is pretty basic. We have some desks, some old filing cabinets, and a kettle that gets used a lot. We don't have a receptionist in a suit or anything like that. Usually, whoever is closest to the door just answers it. We've been in Shanta Ashish for a while, so we know the other businesses in the building quite well. The stairs can be a bit of a workout if the lift is acting up, which happens now and then. We deal with all sorts of items for export. We don’t really specialize in just one thing; if we can ship it, we probably will. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. There’s usually a pile of boxes somewhere waiting to be sent out. We don’t use big words to describe what we do. We just send stuff out and hope the weather stays clear for the ships. That’s about the long and short of it for us. We've got two units here, 2 and 12, so we’re always running between the two.
