Mohini Exports

Mohini Exports is based in Shop No. 3, which is in the basement of R. J. Market at 347 Kalbadevi Road. Being in a basement in Kalbadevi means it’s always a bit of a squeeze. The market is incredibly crowded from morning until late at night. You have to navigate through narrow lanes and dodge people carrying heavy loads just to get to our door. We’ve been in this spot for a long time. Inside, it’s mostly storage for the goods we export. We have shelves packed with all sorts of things and a small desk where I sit to handle the accounts and orders. It’s not a place for showing off. It is a place where we do the hard work of packing and checking items. The lighting is okay, but we definitely rely on our desk lamps. Sometimes the air feels a bit heavy because we are below ground level, but we have a good fan that keeps things moving. We get our daily tea from the stall right outside the market entrance. Dealing with suppliers is a big part of our day. We spend hours checking quality and making sure everything is boxed up correctly for shipping. It’s a lot of physical work combined with paperwork. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us who know the routine inside out. It’s a loud, busy environment, but it’s where we feel at home doing our business.
