Mech Corporation

Mech Corporation is located in Unit 18 of the Andheri Industrial Estate. We’re just off Veera Desai Road in Andheri West. If you know Mumbai, you know this area is always packed with traffic and people moving everywhere. Our unit is one of many in this big industrial complex. It’s not a huge space, so we have to be smart about how we stack our materials and tools. We do a lot of mechanical work here, so there’s usually a bit of oil on the floor and tools spread out everywhere. We’ve been in this unit for several years now. It gets quite loud with the noise from the street and the other workshops nearby. We don’t have a fancy entrance, just a heavy metal door that’s usually propped open to let some air in. Most of the time we are busy with our hands, fixing things or putting mechanical parts together. It’s a tough environment but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. The rain sometimes leaks a bit near the back window when it pours, but we just put a bucket there and keep on working. We don't have time for corporate meetings or writing long reports. We just talk about what needs to be finished today and then we get to it. It’s a local operation, and most of our neighbors in the estate are friends we've known for a long time. It is a decent way to earn a living.
