Our place is B-5 in the Hind Saurashtra Estate, right on the Andheri-Kurla Road near Marol Naka. If you know Marol, you know it’s a hub for all sorts of industrial and commercial work. Bazari Exim Pvt. Ltd. fits right into the mix here. The estate is always buzzing with trucks coming in and out, and there’s usually some kind of construction or repair work going on nearby. It’s a bit of a maze to find our unit if you’re coming here for the first time. The office is practical—it’s built for work, not for showing off. We have high ceilings and shelves that go all the way up, filled with stuff we’ve imported or are getting ready to send out. It’s often quite noisy with the sound of the metro and the heavy vehicles on the main road, so we have to speak up a bit. We don't have a lot of fancy amenities. There’s a small area where we make tea and a couple of fans that we keep running all day to deal with the Mumbai humidity. Dealing with exim work means we’re constantly on the lookout for logistics issues and customs papers. It’s a lot of coordination, and things often go wrong at the last minute, so we’re always busy fixing something. It’s a gritty, hands-on environment, but we’ve been here for years and we know how to get things sorted out in this part of town.
