We are located in Chawl No. 1, specifically in Room No. 3, which is part of the Kanhaiyalal Yadav area near Orleam Tank in Malad. It is a very tight space to work in, especially when we have a lot of materials spread out everywhere. Christmas Gift Box is the name on the door, but most people just know us as the folks who make the boxes in the chawl. Malad is a crowded place, and our little room is no different. We have stacks of cardboard and ribbons piled up almost to the ceiling sometimes. It gets very hot during the summer months because there isn't much of a breeze that gets into the room, so we usually have a small table fan running all day long. We make all kinds of boxes for gifts, not just for the holidays, but for weddings and birthdays too. It’s all done by hand, sitting on the floor or at the small wooden table we have in the corner. Sometimes the kids from the chawl come by to watch us work, or neighbors pop their heads in to see what we are making that day. It’s a very humble setup, and we don’t have any big machines or a warehouse. We just use what we have and try to make every box look decent. It’s a lot of folding and gluing, but it’s a living and we’ve been doing it here for years.
