You can find us at Kamal Kunj Building on Poddar Road in Malad East. We are in Flat 20, which is close to the local Gurudwara. It’s a pretty residential part of the neighborhood, so it doesn’t feel like a typical industrial area. The sound of the morning prayers from the Gurudwara is something we’ve gotten very used to. Working out of an apartment building means we have to be a bit careful about how much noise we make. We mostly handle export paperwork and coordinate with our suppliers from here. There are files stacked on the tables and the spare room is full of packed boxes ready for the courier. The kitchen is where we make our coffee and take breaks when the phones stop ringing for a minute. It’s a bit tight when we have a lot of samples to go through, but we make it work. Sometimes the building elevator is slow, so we see the neighbors while we wait. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don’t have a big staff, just a few people who know the routine. Most of our days are spent checking emails or making sure the shipping documents are correct. It’s a quiet, steady kind of work life here in Malad. We like being in a building where people actually live, it feels more grounded than a big cold office block.
