Mahalaxmi Clinic

Our clinic is located in Shop No 11 of the Mahavir Chawl, right on Ganapatrao Kadam Marg in Lower Parel. It is a small space, like most of the shops in this area, but we make the most of it. Being in a chawl means there is always something going on around us. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood all day long, from children playing to people talking on their balconies. The clinic itself is quite narrow, so we have to be organized with where we put everything. We have a small partition that separates the waiting area from the consultation space. The floor is tiled with those white squares that show every bit of dirt, so we spend a lot of time sweeping it out. Since we are right on the main road, it gets very dusty, and we have to keep the front door closed most of the time. We see a lot of workers from the nearby offices and residents from the chawls. Sometimes people just drop in because they were passing by on their way to the station. We don't have a fancy cooling system, just a big ceiling fan that wobbles a little when it is on the highest setting. It is a busy little clinic in a very busy part of Mumbai. We have been here at 302 Mahavir Chawl for quite some time and everyone around here knows where to find us when they feel sick.
