If you head down Bal Govind Das Road in Matunga West, you'll find us at Shop 19 in Parat Mahal. Liyas is a bit of everything under one roof. We do hair and skin stuff, but there’s also the spa and the academy part. It’s usually pretty lively inside with students learning how to cut hair or do facials. The shop isn't huge, so things can get a bit tight when we have a full class and customers at the same time. We’ve got mirrors all along the walls and the smell of shampoo is always in the air. People from around Matunga come in for their regular trims or to get their skin looked at. It’s a local spot where people end up chatting about their day while getting worked on. The academy side keeps us on our toes because there's always someone new learning the ropes. Sometimes the floor gets covered in hair clippings faster than we can sweep them up. We try to keep a relaxed vibe even when it’s hectic. The chairs are old but comfortable. We’ve been at Parat Mahal for a good while now and know most of the shopkeepers nearby. It’s a practical place for people who want to look a bit better or learn a trade. Nothing too fancy, just hard work and a lot of combs and creams. We also make sure the students get plenty of practice on the mannequins.
