J K Silk Mills

Our mill is located over in Vikhroli West, inside the Harichand Compound at 2/C. It is an old building and you can hear the machines running as soon as you walk into the compound. We work with a lot of silk and other fabrics, so there are threads and scraps of cloth everywhere you look. It is a bit of a dusty environment and the light isn't always the best, but we are used to it. We spend our time checking the looms and making sure the patterns are coming out okay. Sometimes the thread snaps and everything has to stop while we fix it, which takes a bit of patience. We aren't a big modern factory, just a local mill that has been around for quite a while. The Harichand Compound has its own character and we are just one part of it. We deal with a lot of wholesalers and people who come looking for specific materials for their own shops. It is a long day from start to finish and the commute in Vikhroli can be a bit of a drag with all the construction going on. We just focus on the fabric and getting the rolls ready for shipping out. It is a messy, noisy job but there is something nice about seeing the finished silk. We don't have a fancy website or a big office, just the mill floor and our hands. That's enough for us.
