If you come to Santacruz East and look for A/203, that’s where you’ll find us. It’s an older building, and you have to walk up the stairs since the lift is a bit temperamental sometimes. The room is actually quite decent once you’re inside, with enough windows to let in some light from the street. We’ve got rows of plastic chairs and those long wooden tables that have been scratched up by years of students writing on them. I spend a lot of my time here organizing the schedule and making sure we have enough chalk and markers. It feels more like a home than an office because it’s in a residential-style block. You can hear the neighbors occasionally, or the sound of someone cooking nearby. It’s a quiet enough spot for Santacruz, which can be a very loud area. We don't have a big sign outside, just a small nameplate so you know you’re in the right place. Most of our students are local kids who walk over from the nearby apartment buildings. We keep a few jugs of water in the corner and a stack of old magazines for anyone waiting. It’s a simple, honest setup where the focus is just on the daily lessons. Nothing is polished or perfect, but the chairs are sturdy and the roof doesn't leak, which is what matters most to us when we’re working.
