Guru Ambulance Service

We operate out of Shree Bramhandev Society which is on Padmabai Thakkar Road in Mahim. If you are standing in front of the Shiv Sena Bhavan, you just look across and you will see where we are. Mumbai traffic is something else, so being in a central spot like Mahim helps us get around a bit better. We have the ambulances parked and ready for when the phone rings. It could be any time of day or night. Some days we are just moving people from their house to a check-up and other days it is a real rush to get someone to the hospital. We know the streets around here pretty well by now. The society area is usually where we hang out between calls. We keep the vehicles clean and make sure there is enough oxygen and the stretchers are working right. It’s a lot of sitting and waiting followed by a lot of fast driving and navigating through the local lanes. Being near the Bhavan means there is always something happening on the street. We see a lot of the same faces in the neighborhood. We don't have a big office, just our base here in Mahim where we coordinate everything. When a call comes in, we just jump in and go. It’s a basic service but it keeps us busy 24 hours a day. We have been doing this for a while now.
