Emmar International

We are up on the 6th floor of Raheja Centre. If you know Nariman Point, you know how it gets during the morning rush. The address is suite 613, so we spend a fair amount of time waiting for those elevators with everyone else. Inside the office, it’s mostly about the phones and the computers. Emmar International deals with trade across borders, so there’s always a lot of coordination between different time zones. It isn’t always smooth, especially when there’s a delay at the port or some paperwork gets stuck at customs. We just sit at our desks, drink our coffee, and try to sort it out. The view from this high up is mostly other office buildings, but you can feel the energy of Mumbai. It’s a small team here, so everyone knows what the other person is doing. We don’t have a flashy reception or anything. It’s just desks, filing cabinets, and a lot of lists. Sometimes the air conditioning is too cold, and other times it barely works, but we get the work done. Dealing with international clients means we have to stay on our toes, even when it’s late in the evening. There’s always someone checking a tracking number or writing an email. It’s a busy life here in South Mumbai, but we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of it over the years. We just keep our heads down and finish the day's tasks.
