Our clinic is on the ground floor of the Shantikunj Building, which is situated on B J Deorukhar Road in the Naigaum part of Dadar East. Being in Dadar means there’s always a lot of movement around us. The building is one of those solid, older Mumbai structures that has been around for a long time. Since we are on the ground floor, people don’t have to worry about the elevator or climbing any stairs, which is helpful. The interior is quite modest. We have a few rows of chairs in the waiting section and a desk where we keep all the files and the phone. The tiles on the floor have some cracks here and there, but we keep them scrubbed. It gets a bit damp during the monsoon season, but that’s just Dadar for you. There is a small window that opens out onto the back, but we mostly keep it shut to keep the noise out. We don’t have any fancy marketing materials or glossy posters. It’s just a plain room where we see patients. Most of our visitors are people from the surrounding buildings who have known us for years. It’s a comfortable, familiar spot for them and for us. We just go about our business in a quiet, steady way, every day.
