If you’re looking for our clinic, we are in Gul Manzil, which is building number 1-A on Sarojini Road in Vile Parle West. We are directly opposite the McDonalds, so most people use that as their landmark when they’re trying to find us for the first time. The building is one of those older structures that gives the area its character, and we are right there on the ground level. Vile Parle is always buzzing with activity, so there is a constant stream of cars and people outside our window. Inside, the clinic is a bit more peaceful, though we do stay quite busy with appointments. We have a reception area with a few old chairs and a desk where we handle the paperwork. Dr. Arun S. Shah has his consultation room in the back, where he’s spent many years seeing the local residents. We have shelves filled with medical books and patient files that have been around for a long time. The place has a very traditional feel to it, with high ceilings and old-fashioned fans. We don’t have a website or any fancy marketing; we just rely on the people who live in Vile Parle West knowing we are here. Every day is pretty much the same—we open the shutters, clean the floors, and start seeing the people who need help. It’s a steady, honest way to spend the day in this busy part of Mumbai. We've seen a lot of changes in the neighborhood over the years.
