Concept Hydro Engineering is right on the corner at Mandvi Pole on Dr Anand Rao L Nair Road. It’s number 292. Being on a corner means we see everything that happens on the street. It’s a noisy spot with plenty of honking and people rushing by. We focus on hydraulic stuff, which means there is usually a bit of oil on the floor and a lot of heavy metal parts lying around. It’s work that gets your hands dirty. We’ve been at this location for a while, and the walls are covered with old calendars and notes we’ve scribbled over the years. We don't have a receptionist. If the bell rings, one of us wipes our hands on a rag and goes to see who it is. Sometimes it’s a delivery, sometimes it’s a customer with a leaking pump. We just take a look and see what can be done. The tools we use are heavy and old, but they get the job done right. It’s a small space, so we have to be careful not to trip over things. In the evenings, the street lights come on and the traffic slows down just a little. That’s usually when we finish up the last few tasks and get ready for the next day. It’s just a regular engineering shop doing its thing in a busy part of the city. We don't mind the grime as long as the work is correct.
