Captured Rays

You have to climb up to the third floor here at 20, Saras Baugh Colony to find us. We are tucked away in Deonar, not too far from the Sion-Chembur area and right by the Deonar Depot. Being on the third floor means we get a bit of a view, though it’s mostly just the tops of other buildings and the buses moving in and out of the depot. The light in here is actually pretty good in the mornings, which helps since we deal with a lot of visual stuff. Our rooms are usually cluttered with tripods, different kinds of lights, and cables that everyone trips over at least once a day. It’s not a corporate office; it feels more like someone’s living room that got taken over by gear. We spend a lot of time staring at screens or adjusting a lens to get things looking right. Sometimes the noise from the depot gets a bit loud, but you sort of stop noticing it after a few weeks. We are just a small group of people who enjoy playing around with how light hits a surface. There is always a pile of bags near the door because someone is usually coming back from a job or getting ready to leave for one. It’s a bit disorganized, and we probably should clean the windows more often, but we’re usually too busy with the cameras to worry about that.
