Comet Freight Forwarding Services is based in Bhandup West. It is a busy part of Mumbai and our office reflects that. We are tucked away in a building that has seen a lot of years. You can hear the local trains passing by if the windows are open. It’s a constant background noise. Our desks are covered with piles of papers and folders. Logistics is a lot of paperwork, even these days. We spend a lot of time on the phone, talking to drivers and people at the port. It gets loud when three of us are talking at once. The floor is old tiles and the ceiling fan makes a little clicking sound. We don't mind it much. There is a small pantry where we keep the tiffin boxes. Most of the staff has been here for a long time. We know the shortcuts around Bhandup to avoid the worst traffic. It’s not a fancy glass-walled office. It’s more of a functional space where we get things done. Sometimes the internet is slow and we all complain about it. We stay late quite often because the work doesn't really stop. The street outside is narrow and always full of people. It’s just a normal office in a crowded city. We do our bit and then go home to do it again tomorrow. The clock on the wall is five minutes fast but we never fixed it. We keep a jar of biscuits for tea time on the main counter.
