Alfa Enterprises

Working at Masjid Bunder West on 3rd Bhoiwada is an experience every day. Alfa Enterprises is located right in the middle of all that chaos. If you’ve ever been to this part of Mumbai, you know how tight the lanes are. We are mostly surrounded by other traders and wholesalers. Our space is filled with whatever stock we are moving at the time. It gets hot in the afternoons, so the ceiling fan is always on its highest setting. We spend most of our time checking orders and making sure the bags or boxes get to the right trucks. It’s a lot of physical work, moving things around and making sure nothing gets damaged in the humidity. We’ve been in this building for quite a while now. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy to worry about that. We have a small desk where we keep the ledger and the phone. Sometimes the neighbors come by to borrow a tool or just to complain about the traffic on the main road. It’s a very local way of doing business. We don't have fancy computer systems for everything; a lot of it is still done by hand. It’s just how we’ve always done it here in Bhoiwada. We show up early, deal with the deliveries, and try to get everything sorted before the sun goes down. It's a busy life but it is ours.
