Aastha Clinic

You can find us right on Kalbadevi Road, which as anyone around here knows, is one of the busiest places you could pick. There is always a lot going on outside—horns honking, people rushing to the markets, and the general hum of Mumbai life. Our clinic is a small sanctuary from all that noise, though it’s never completely quiet. We have been on this road for a long time, and we have seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. The clinic is just a simple room where we see people for their daily health issues. We don’t have fancy waiting rooms with televisions; we just have some sturdy chairs and a desk where we keep our records. It’s the kind of place where people stop by because they were already out doing their shopping and realized they needed to talk to someone about a cough or a fever. Because space is at a premium in Kalbadevi, we have to keep everything very organized, though sometimes papers do pile up on the desk during a busy shift. We know most of the shopkeepers nearby, and they often pop in just to say hello. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don’t put on any acts here. We are just a small clinic on a very old, very busy road, trying to help out whoever comes in the door with whatever they need that day, even when it’s chaotic outside.
