Rana Tiles Maker

Down here in Village Herdor Khanpur, we make tiles. My shop is called Rana Tiles Maker. We are pretty easy to find because we are right near the Hp Petrol Pump in the Mukerian area of Dist. Vishapur. I started making tiles because I liked working with my hands and seeing a finished product. We make various styles, mostly the kind you see in courtyards or on walkways around here. It’s not a fancy operation. We have the molds and the cement and the pigments all laid out in the yard. Sometimes the colors don't come out exactly the same every single time, but that’s the nature of handmade work. My brother helps me with the heavy lifting and mixing the materials. We get quite a lot of mud on our boots during the rainy season, but the work doesn't stop. People from the village and nearby towns come to us when they are building a new porch or fixing a path. We don't have a big sales team. It's just us answering the phone or talking to whoever walks into the yard. We show them the different patterns we can do. It’s a simple life. We work hard, try to make tiles that last, and hope the weather stays clear so they can dry properly.
