Shantiniketan Jubilee School

We’ve been here in Shantipuri for quite a while now. The school is right on a busy street in Motihari, so there is always some noise from the rickshaws outside. In the mornings, you can see the kids walking in with their heavy bags. Some of them look sleepy, especially during the winters when it’s foggy. The building isn't brand new, but we keep it tidy enough. Our teachers come from different parts of the district. Some have been here for ten years, others just started. We have a small playground where the children run around during the break. Sometimes it gets a bit muddy when it rains, but they don't seem to mind much. We spend a lot of time just making sure the fans work and the benches are in one piece. Parents come by in the afternoon to pick up their kids, and that's when the gate gets really crowded. It's a busy life here. We don't have fancy stuff, just regular classrooms and blackboards. We try to keep the kids focused on their books, but they mostly want to know when lunch is. Every Friday we do a bit of cleaning around the yard. It's just a normal school where people work hard and try to get through the syllabus before the big exams start. There’s always someone losing a pencil or a water bottle. That’s just how it goes here in Motihari.
