Gurpreet

My name is Gurpreet and my place is located at the New Anaj Mandi in the Ropar district. Being in the grain market means things are always moving, especially during the harvest seasons. It gets very crowded with tractors and trucks coming in and out all the time. The noise and the dust are just part of the job here. I have been based in this spot for a long time. It’s a simple setup, mostly just a small office where I keep all my ledgers and records. I spend a lot of my day talking to farmers and the other people who work around the mandi. We don't really have fancy furniture or air conditioning that works all the time. It is a lot of hard work and long hours when the market is busy. During the off-season, things quiet down a lot and it is mostly just maintenance work. I prefer it when it is busy though, as the time goes by faster. People know me around here because I’ve been in the same spot for so many years. I don’t bother with big signs or marketing. If you need me, you just come down to the Mandi and ask for Gurpreet. It’s a tough life sometimes with the weather and the prices changing, but it is what I know. We just take it one day at a time and try to keep things honest.
